Bishop Gadsden is searching for a Full Time Maintenance Technician
III! Located on James Island, we are a not-for-profit, faith-based
retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop
Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement
community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown
Charleston!
This individual is tasked to complete skilled maintenance functions
in the building and physical plant of our community. This position
is considered to be master level. The role is a customer facing
service-oriented position that requires constant interaction with
residents and team members. The successful candidate will have
compassion for and the desire to work with the elderly.

A Typical Day:
- General plumbing tasks such as changing out faucets, mixing
valves, plunging a toilet, replacing a wax ring, rebuilding a
toilet, clearing drains.
- General electrical tasks such as lock out/tag out, bulb
replacement, ballast replacement, fixture change out, fuse
replacement, light switch/outlet replacement.
- Change bulbs, HVAC filters, and batteries.
- Hang pictures, blinds, hardware.
- Perform carpentry related duties to include construction,
demolition, and repair.
- Troubleshoot or replace electrical.
- Troubleshoot or replace plumbing.
- Troubleshoot/install/repair appliances.
- Troubleshoot/install/reset/repair equipment.
- Troubleshoot/reset/repair all types of HVAC systems.
- Perform all equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
- Monitor/regulate boiler system.
- Monitor/regulate 4 pipe systems.
- Monitor/regulate domestic water supply.
What We Need From You:
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- General experience in building maintenance required.
- Valid SC divers' license required.
- Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and
balance.
- Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50
pounds.
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information
as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents,
families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
