Laboratory Medicine seeks an academically-oriented Cytogenomics
Laboratory Director. The MUSC Cytogenomics Laboratory provides
comprehensive oncological and constitutional testing services
including karyotyping, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH),
chromosomal microarray analysis and specialty liquid/solid tumor
molecular testing. In addition to providing excellent patient care,
our department also consistently ranks in the upper half of
pathology departments in the United States for National Institutes
of Health research with approximately $5 million dollars in

seeking a team-oriented individual with a passion for patient care
and teaching who is: an academically oriented candidate with 2 or
more years of post-fellowship experience; current fellow/recent
graduates will be considered a PhD with American Board of Medical
Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) certification (or eligibility) in
Cytogenetics and/or Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or MD or
equivalent degree with relevant pathology specialty training and
certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic,
Clinical, and Molecular Genetic Pathology and at least two years of
experience in Cytogenetics or Genomics, with eligibility for
medical licensure in South Carolina proficient in advanced
practical, diagnostic, and interpretive skills in constitutional
and oncological cytogenetics, FISH, chromosomal microarray, and
next generation sequencing capable of performing and optimizing
quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability of
test results knowledgeable and experienced in new molecular genomic
and genetic test development, validation, implementation and
quality control experienced in fostering collaborative
relationships with clinicians and researchers as well as serving as
a resource to technologists at the bench willing to participate in
clinical and/or translational research endeavors an excellent
communicator with a strong work ethic and a collaborative approach
to patient care excited to participate in teaching medical and
graduate students, and training pathology residents and fellows an
active participant in the ACGME-accredited molecular genetic
pathology fellowship training program MUSC Pathology and Laboratory
Medicine Collaborative team composed of >60 faculty including
several Directors in the Cytogenomics section High quality training
programs with 22 residents and 10-12 fellows who have had a 100%
board passage rate for the past 7 years CAP, AABB, ASHI, and FACT
