Summary/Purpose : Manages one or more functional areas within the
department and provides direct oversight of CRNAs, CAAs, or more
professional and support staff, including subordinate supervisors.
In collaboration with the Director of Anesthesia Providers and
Technicians, exercises hiring, promotion, and corrective action
authority. Ensures high-quality anesthesia practice through
consistent evaluation, clinical observation, feedback, and
meaningful professional engagement with providers. Supports
practitioners through performance evaluation, coaching, counseling,
and corrective processes to promote professional growth and
clinical excellence. Maintains responsibility for evaluating and
optimizing departmental processes while ensuring compliance with
organizational policies, accreditation standards, and all
applicable laws and regulations. Partners with leadership in the
development, oversight, and ongoing monitoring of assigned cost
center budgets and financial performance. Holds accountability for
staffing models, coverage plans, and deployment strategies,
balancing operational needs with budgetary constraints and sound
financial stewardship. Functions both independently and
collaboratively to support fiscal accountability and achieve key
operational and financial objectives. Promotes strong
interprofessional collaboration and leads initiatives, strategic
priorities, and program development efforts that positively impact
departmental culture, organizational performance, and community
engagement. Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates
departmental activities in alignment with employee and
organizational goals. Partners with leaders to establish and refine
operating procedures, enhance clinical and non-clinical workflows,
improve productivity, and advance quality and operational outcomes
across diverse care delivery settings. Proactively identifies
opportunities to enhance clinical processes, scope of practice, and
patient management approaches. Fosters a culture that empowers and
motivates team members to perform at their highest potential.
Minimum Training and Education: Master’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia
or equivalent required, with a minimum of five (5) years of
clinical practice experience. Demonstrated leadership engagement
within the department required, such as completion of advanced
degree coursework, leadership of quality improvement initiatives,
participation on hospital-wide committees, CRNA of the Day (COD) or
Lead CRNA, or participation in formal leadership development
programs. Prior experience in a leadership role is required.
Required Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations: Must be an
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a current license to
practice and official recognition as a Certified Registered Nurse
Anesthetist (CRNA) in the State of South Carolina. Certification by
the Council on Certification is required, with current
recertification maintained as applicable. Current Basic Life
Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
certification is required, either through the American Heart
Association (AHA), BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA-recognized
equivalent) or the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional
Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Additional Job Description

required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability
